Postoperative therapy after metacarpophalangeal arthroplasty.

چکیده
A literature review was conducted to determine the most effective postoperative therapy regimens for metacarpophalangeal (MCP) arthroplasty. The main difference between the regimens was the use of passive MCP extension over active extension and splinting in MCP flexion over splinting in extension. One study did not find continuous passive motion to be significantly beneficial for gaining hand strength or MCP motion. No study evaluated the efficacy or suitability of a particular regimen for specific implants or surgical procedures.

Multimodal Pain Management Protocol Versus Patient Controlled Narcotic Analgesia for Postoperative Pain Control after Shoulder Arthroplasty
Background: Our institution’s traditional pain management strategy after shoulder arthroplasty has involved the utilization of postoperative patient-controlled narcotic analgesia. More recently, we have implemented a protocol (TLC) that utilizes a multimodal approach. The purpose of this study was to determine whether this change has improved pain control and decreased narcotic utilization. ...

The postoperative quality of life in patients with DDH who have been born and grown with this disability and adapted to it during the life, is one of the most challenging issues. This study aimed to compare the quality of life of patients with DDH before ...

متن کاملMetacarpophalangeal joint arthroplasty in rheumatoid arthritis.
In patients with rheumatoid arthritis, metacarpophalangeal joint deformities can significantly affect hand function. Flexible hinge implant arthroplasty, designed in the 1960s, remains the most accepted and widely performed technique for treatment of severely involved metacarpophalangeal joints in rheumatoid arthritis. An arc of motion of 40 degrees to 60 degrees can be expected after arthropla...
